COLUMBUS GROVE — Allen East edged out the Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday in five sets. The Bulldogs took the first set 25-15 before the Mustangs bounced back and won the next two 25-23 and 25-14.

Grove forced a fifth set with a 25-21 victory in the fourth but Allen East took set five 15-11.


VERSAILLES — The Lady Jays fell in three sets to Versailles on Tuesday 25-15, 25-11 and 25-17. St. John’s falls to 3-17 (0-8 MAC) while the Tigers improve to 10-11 (2-6 MAC).



ST. MARYS — The Lady Bearcats were swept in three sets on Monday 25-10, 25-17 and 25-13 by St. Marys. Leah Walter and Claire Bertke led the Roughriders with eight kills.

Spencerville falls to 5-14 (0-7 NWC) and St. Marys improves to 8-12 (4-3 WBL).


KALIDA — Columbus Grove rallied in a pair of sets Monday evening to defeat Kalida 25-21, 25-22, 27-25 in Putnam County League action.

The Bulldogs are 3-3 in the PCL and 11-9 overall and the Ladycats are 2-3 in the league and 3-18 overall.

Kalida had leads in all three games that the Bulldogs were able to overcome. Their biggest deficit of the evening came in the opening game as Grove trailed 15-9 as the Ladycats used a 9-1 run for the lead. Columbus Grove was able to battle back and take a 20-19 lead before Kalida tied the score at 20-20. The Bulldogs scored the next four points for a 24-20 lead that helped them close out the game.

The second set saw the two teams trade points as they were tied at 18-18 before Columbus Grove went on a 6-0 run to take a 24-18 lead. The Ladycats pulled within 24-22 before Columbus Grove was able to close out the game for a 2-0 lead.

In the third game, the Bulldogs were up 9-3 before Kalida rallied to take a 14-12 lead. After that the two squads traded points before Grove was able to take a 23-21 lead only to see Kalida tie the game and eventually take a 25-24 lead. The Bulldogs scored the final three points as a block by Cassie Heilman provided the final point of the night.

Heilman finished with five kills on 13-of-17 hitting with two block assists. Alayna Ricker powered seven kills for the Bulldogs on 11-of-12 hitting with two block assists and she was 20-of-20 serving with 14 points. Angel Schneider had five kills on 9-of-13 hitting and Becca Choi had four kills on 13-of-14 hitting, was 12-of-12 serving with an ace and had 12 assists.

Lauren Benroth had two aces on 15-of-15 serving with 10 points along with 13 assists and two kills. Abigail Gladwell had 11 digs for Grove and Emily Ridinger had five digs.

Brooke Vennekotter was 14-of-20 hitting for Kalida with seven kills along with 11 assists and 11 digs. Grace Klausing was 21-of-26 hitting with seven kills with 13 assists and nine digs and Emily Buss had five kills on 13-of-15 hitting with an ace and five digs.

Carlee Recker had 15 digs for the Ladycats, Brooke Erhart had seven digs and Brooke Siefker had five digs and served up two aces.
