The corn and beans are growing, the wheat is turning golden and will be ready to harvest soon; produce is being gathered from gardens, and the summer flowers are beautiful.

Babies (and grandbabies) are being born, stores and restaurants are opening back up. The stock market has rebounded and people, on the whole, are happy again. Proof positive, that not even the coronavirus can keep our great country, and especially our wonderful little town, down. Maybe it’s all the fresh air and sunshine, maybe it’s the fun-to-visit Delphos Farmer’s Market. Whatever it is, we were all so ready for all of this.

Speaking of ready, the Thrift Shop is ready to offer Christmas in July. The entire month of July, we will be featuring our Christmas inventory in both the main shop as well as the Seasonal Annex. You’ll find some great deals, so be sure to get in and browse around. We all know that it’ll be Christmas again in the mere blink of an eye. If you’re going to be in charge of a Christmas party or gathering, now would be a fantastic time to pick up some table favor items or decorations to make your event special. We’re already hearing the firecrackers being set off for the Fourth of July, but it’s not too early to be thinking about making Christmas merry, too. Again, Christmas in July will run for the entire month of July.

We’re excited to announce that starting on July 7, all clothing, except for the clothing in the Boutique, will be Buy One, Get One Half Off. We have a large inventory available, so the “scenery” will change daily. Keep in mind, it’s not too early to be thinking about school clothing. Don’t tell the kids I said that. We will be ready to hang new items out daily, so be sure to stop by often.

Many have asked when the drop off window will open back up. Since we are not back to being fully staffed yet, we know that we simply won’t be able to keep up with all of the anticipated donations. We highly appreciate and need your donations, but at this time, we need to continue our practice of having you call ahead to arrange a drop off time of your items. It is working so slick. In fact, this morning, we have arranged drop offs every 15 minutes. You just pull up, we unload, and away you go. Please call 419-692-2942 to arrange a time that suits your schedule to drop off your items.

We’re excited to be open again and shoppers are excited that we are open, too. We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our customers for their cooperation and understanding during this trying time. We’ve heard people say they like having only 30 shoppers in the store and that they don’t mind waiting outside. We’ve heard them say that they appreciate us keeping their safety and health in mind. It warms our heart to know that together we can and will get through this, and eventually we’ll get back to doing things the way we always did prior to Corona. I think we’re all ready for that.

If you’re still thinking of volunteering your time somewhere, the Thrift Shop can absolutely use your help. Whether it’s an hour, a morning, an afternoon, or a day, give us a call at 419-692-2942 and let us know what works with your schedule. We are in desperate need of sorters, cashier and baggers of the purchased items. It’s a rewarding experience because through your help, we’re able to help those in need in our community. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to call.

All of us at the Thrift Shop would like to wish you a happy, healthy, and safe Fourth of July.

Until the next time, that’s this month’s report.
