LIMA — The West Ohio Community Action Partnership has announced upcoming programs.

The Financial Management Program will be offered from 4-6 p.m. June 21, 22 and 23 and 10 a.m. to noon on July 26, 27 and 28 at WOCAP-Central, 504 W. Central Ave., Lima or via webinar.

Financial Management is a free program offered by WOCAP and gives the participants the opportunity to:

• Learn how to fix their credit

• Improve personal finances

• Create a budget that works

Registration is required.

Are you ready to become a homeowner?

• Plenty of opportunity for first-time home buyers for the city of Lima

• Interest rates are as low as 3%

• Mortgages are lower than paying rent

• Purchase a home up to $133,000 for single family homes and $170,000 for 2-unit resident.

• Income below 80% AMI -Family of 4 = $53,050

• Our program provides a free home inspection

The West Ohio Community Action Partnership Homeownership Program provides information about:

• Steps to Pre/Post Purchase of a Home

• Preventive Maintenance Techniques

• Foreclosure Prevention

• Predatory Lending Prevention

Classes will be held from 1-4 p.m. June 7, 8, 14 and 15 and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 12, 14, 19 and 21 at WOCAP-Central, 504 W. Central Ave., Lima or via webinar.

Eligible participants could receive up to $6,000 in down payment assistance/closing costs.

Registration is required. In order to participate in this program, an application must first be submitted to New Lima Homes located at 1003 W. Spring St, Lima, and approved before attending classes.

WOCAP must temporarily suspend accepting anymore rent applications effective May 4.

West Ohio Community Action Partnership (WOCAP) received the Consolidated Appropriations Act Home Relief Grant (CAAHRG) to provide rent assistance to eligible renters during the Covid-19 pandemic but this funding is running low and we are awaiting new funding for this program.

Applications already submitted will be processed by highest need first including clients facing evictions will be the priority at this time.

Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program

The Ohio Department of Development and WOCAP will help income-eligible Ohioans with water and wastewater assistance. The Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program provides eligible Ohioans assistance paying water and wastewater bills. The program runs through until Sept. 30.

To apply for the program, clients are required to contact West Ohio Community Action Partnership.

Clients need to bring copies of the following documents to their appointment:

• Copies of their most recent water/wastewater bills;

• A list of all household members and proof of income for the last 30 days or 12 months for each member;

• Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency for all household members;

• Proof of disability (if applicable)

WOCAP continues to process enrollment and re-verification applications for PIPP Plus. Household income must be at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Income for a family of 4 could be $39,750.

• PIPP Plus is an income-based payment program for regulated utilities.

• PIPP Plus helps households maintain gas and electric service.

• Monthly payment is based on a percentage of household income.

• PIPP Plus payments make monthly utility payments more affordable.

No appointment necessary to re-verify your PIPP Plus if your account is current. Just go to the nearest West Ohio CAP office to fill out an application or visit wocap.org You can also apply at energyhelp.ohio.gov

Required Documentation:

• Current electric and gas bill regardless of account status.

• Social Security numbers for all household members.

• Income documentation for all household members for the last 30 days.

• Documentation of Citizenship for all household members (Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Passport)

• Proof of disability if disabled.
